Years Experiense
Roca Café was established in 2010 in Bermondsey, London, where Turker Akçil set up a "greasy spoon" cafe, originally called Embassy Cafe. He began trading with his wife, Suna, from the premises at 188 Grange road.
Just a few years later Turker decided to re-band the coffee shop and renamed it Roca Cafe. This change was necessary to fit in with the new trendy image that the area was heading towards. This change came alongside the new gourmet food and coffees added to the menu.
Roca Cafe remains a family business with the 2nd generation of Akçils now running a coffee shop which is a spin-off of the cafe originally run by Türker's father, Hüseyin Akçil.
Hüseyin ran Jubilee café in the 80s along with his brother in the borough market (see picture). It is a proud boast that some of our customers travel many miles to reach us and enjoy the cafe experience time and time again.
We proudly serve the gourmet coffees, shakes, egg benedicts with salmon and avocados, grilled food and curries which reflect the latest trends as well as inheriting the greasy spoon concept from our predecessors.
